“The Shadow.” “The Blind Spot.” The Dark Side.” What is it? It is an aspect of you that is unpleasant, unfavourable or plain old ugly. You may not even be conscious of it, but it is there, playing a part in your life.
Let us look at some examples. You are working as a team, and one member of the team constantly puts others down. It is as if he enjoys finding faults with them and proving that he is better than the rest. Rather than elevate others to greater heights he enjoys pulling them down. You might say he has a “dark side.”
Then there are those who sabotage themselves. They rise to a level of success (trading profits, status, great achievements) and then find a way to bring it all down. They either start overtrading or breaking the rules and turning profits into losses. Some create a big drama and pick up and leave. It is their dark side that is working against them.
If your trading (or any area of your life) is not giving you the outcomes you want, stop. Notice that you are feeling a level of pain or discomfort. This is a signal that you are out of alignment with your higher self (your soul, your spirit, the universe) and have an opportunity to heal and make changes.
If you find reasons outside yourself for not getting the outcomes you want, you are being a victim. Victims believe that someone else has done something bad to them, and, as a direct result, that person is responsible for the lack of peace and happiness in the victim’s life. As you can not change others, blaming them is a waste of time. On the other hand if you are blaming yourself, this is just as bad. Self blame leads to guilt which then gets you to punishment and pain. This is not the way to mastery and success.
You judge, lay blame, accuse, play victim and seek revenge. Instead, what if you realised that your life is directed by forces in your own conscious mind? What if you looked at what is going on in your life and said: “Look what I have created in my life? Isn’t that interesting.”
Healing occurs when you let in the idea that your higher self has lovingly created this situation for you. To transform anything, you must be able to experience it completely and fully. Be loving to your negatives. Be loving to your dark side. Marianne Williamson puts it beautifully: “It is in the forgiveness of our weaknesses that we are healed of them”. Forgiveness is letting go of the past and refusing to be controlled by it.
Then what? Then, you open up the doors, the space to start doing things differently. You take steps based on love, not fears or threats. You may experience resistance; welcome that too. Resistance is part of the process of making the changes. You have a right to find what works best for you. Adjustments and corrections are part of this process. Embracing and loving all of you, including what was once in the dark, is the key to Self Mastery.
Believe, achieve
