Fimat Group has a network of 29 offices located in 26 key financial marketplaces around the world. New Margin Rules for Option Trading: An important offering by Fimat concerns recent rule changes for risk-based margining by the SEC, which has allowed the firm to offer a program for Portfolio Margining of broad-based index options and corresponding ETFs and equity options. Eligible accounts can be subject to a more efficient margin treatment based on the net risks of the eligible instruments, instead of the standard Reg T margin requirements. The program works as a modified risk-based haircut, without the customer being a registered broker/dealer under the SEC. Benefits may include the freeing up of significant capital in some qualified trading accounts. Starting in April 2007, the following will be approved for portfolio margining status: Index futures, narrow-based index options, and underlying cash equities.
